Training in Japan for an Uzbek Confectionery Company

In December 2023, we accepted a training group of 20, headed by the owner  of Safia, https://safiabakery.uz/en., the largest confectionery manufacturer and distributor in Uzbekistan.
The training was carried out with the cooperation of the JICA Uzbekistan Center. The training was successful – we received high praise for the selection of training destinations and the training programs.
Confectionery manufacturing and sales companies, a Toyota Kaizen seminar implementation company, and a confectionery machine manufacturing company kindly agreed to give seminars and tour in their factories and stores. The group gained valuable insights into confectionery sales methods, the introduction of Kaizen into workplaces and factories, etc.  Safia is already in concrete business negotiations with one of the companies they visited.
They also visited Food Tech Japan 2023, and got a feel for robots and AI technology, and at the booths they visited, they had business discussions that would lead to future business relations.

KAIZEN Assessment in Ghana in a UNIDO Project

We are now being engaged in the project for expanding KAIZEN initiative through enhancing sustainable agri-business in Ghana organized by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development) for a year till May 2024. The government of Ghana and its responsible body, Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) have been tackling the sector’s challenges by introducing and disseminating KAIZEN, but the impact had been rather limited, and the government requested UNIDO for further assistance.
The project aims at enhancing sustainable agri-business.  We train officials of GEA and visit SMEs together with them to assess the production process regarding Kaizen and provide them with assistance.
We conducted the first on-site training for officials of GEA in July 2023.1cee5b68-1f50-4560-8572-d314a477df4e (002)UNIDO (1)4c666339-8751-473f-985a-e4a637d8560b (002)

Kyrgyz Recycle Business Matching Visit to Japan

EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) sent a delegate of Kyrgyz recycle business for a matching trip to Japan in May, and Truspire received them.  We made such plans for the delegate to visit N-Expo and meet Japanese exhibitors, recycle companies, recycle shops, as they can get up-dated info about the private business counterparts.  Public organizations such as Japan Containers and Packaging Recycle Corporation, Global Environment Dept. of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), and Yokohama Municipality Office with its waste processing factory welcomed them, prepared unique materials, and gave seminars for them.  The delegates were grateful for those opportunities.

Back to On-site Jobs

With Covid-19 pandemic gradually coming under control, our human resources development assistance contracts have been back to on-site engagements – after the 2 years and a half of on-line jobs. We are engaged in our roles in the business courses at the Japan Centers in Kyrgyz, Uzbekistan, Laos, Myanmar, providing business trainings in production plans, business plans, management strategies and marketing. We helped the management of Xalq Bank (People’s Bank) https://www.xalqbank.az/en/ , the national bank, get the ideas of strategy, critical success factors and introduction of kaizen.

In Kyrgyz, our consultant talked and showed kaizen in the factory of Kulikovskiy https://kulikov.com/ , the country’s leading confectionery.  He also gave the management advice on building the company’s new factory.

Development Project for SMEs in Turkey

We have been engaged in a JICA’s development assistance program, “Data Collection and Survey on Development of SMEs in Turkey” with UNICO International Corporation, the contractor of the project, in the fields of “Production Management and Kaizen” and “Financial Management and Accounting”.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, our operations for the project have been conducted via online. In August 2021, we made a presentation on KAIZEN/Export Marketing and Financial Management to SMEs in Turkey during online management seminars.
From November 1st to 12th, we conducted individual consultation for the SMEs in Istanbul, Ankara and other industrial cities and provided advice on management improvement.  On November 8, JICA and KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization) organized online workshop using Case Study of Turkish SMEs, where Tamada and Mukaiyama participated as lecturers and provided more than 50 small business owners with opportunities for improving their business skills to cope with business crisis.

Business under the Situation of Covid-19 Pandemic Worldwide

Truspire’s operations are also affected by the worldwide spread of the infection.

In Japan, we have been providing consultations on management issues to the management of IT-related companies such as software development companies and food inspection system companies. As people are required to refrain from moving and contacting people, the chances of face-to-face discussions are decreasing, but as mentor, we always try to listen carefully and support the company leaders to proceed with their business decisions with confidence.

Overseas operations are also affected by travel restrictions.
Since May 2019, we have been participating in the “JICA Asia Regional Japan Center Project (business course implementation)” and engaging in human resource development projects. The work is comprised of lectures at the Japan Center (Business Strategy, Business Plan, Consulting leader training, Production Management, SCM, Marketing, Bookkeeping, Financial Management) and management advice to various companies including food manufacturing processors, etc., but since March 2020, all operations have been switched to online.

We have been participating in JICA’s Palestinian Industry Promotion Project throughout the first phase (2017-2020) and the second phase (2020-2022) and making efforts in collaboration with Ministry of National Economy as counterpart to train officials of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in major cities in Palestine and local consultants to become competent consultants who support the industrial promotion of SMEs. For the second phase, we planned to focus on direct visits to companies and advice, but due to limited travel to the site, we are switching to online support from Japan.

We are also engaged in the project “Information Collection and Confirmation Survey on the Promotion of SMEs in Turkey” since February 2021 in the field of Production Control/KAIZEN and Financial/Accounting management.  The online open seminars were successfully made to the SMEs in August 2021.  We are scheduled to visit three cities in Turkey in November 2021 for conducting seminars and workshops and short-term onsite consultation to the SMEs, depending upon the Covid-19 situation.

“Information Gathering and Confirmation Survey on the Sudanese Export Promotion System” (February – August 2021) was the only project that allowed us to travel to the site, and we were able to carry out our work by visiting more than a dozen local companies in Khartoum and two major local cities to investigate and examine the export potential of products, and reported to the Ambassador of Japan to Sudan, the Director of JICA Sudan, the Undersecretary of Deputy Minister of Trade, the senior official of the Ministry of Industry, and the National Chamber of Commerce of Sudan, and STP (Sudan Trade Point), an executive and counterpart of the company. We have made a proposal, based on which Sudan’s export promotion policy is expected to be formulated in the future.
